Julia Volkmar is a Berlin based spatial graphic designer. She develops visual identities for spatial, graphic and media contexts and studied visual communication at Universität der Künste Berlin and École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs Paris (2006-2011).
In May 2018 Julia Volkmar opened her own Studio and realizes projects like the visual identity for 100 Jahre Bauhaus in Berlin / Bauhauswoche 2019.
After working as a graphic designer for Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin (2010-2012), she was the leading art director at chezweitz—office for museal and urban scenography (2012-2018). Amongst others, her projects included exhibitions like Golem (Jewish Museum Berlin), Mies & the inheritance of modernism (Schunck*, Heerlen), Louise Bourgeois (Moderna Museet Stockholm) and the new permanent exhibitions at Jewish Museum Berlin and Bauhaus Museum Dessau (opening 2019).
After several teaching assignments at Bauhaus Universität Weimar, TU Berlin and TU Braunschweig, she is currently working with Lehrstuhl Prof. Gabi Schillig at Universität der Künste Berlin.
